Young Widow turns Grief into Passion

Justin Jean PJs was created by Lauren Raja, at the age of 33.  After losing her husband, Justin, on October 2014 in a tragic accident while on vacation in Europe, she realized that life is too short not to live passionately and with purpose. Although she loved her former profession, Lauren quit her job as a middle school math teacher and started to develop ideas on how to honor both her husband and grandmother, Jean.

After the dust settled just enough for Lauren to realize how drastic and terrifying the last six months had been, she knew she had to make changes, fast.  She organized her life and began to draw fashion sketches.  What started as just a hobby to get her out of bed in the morning-a year later: became her livelihood. "It's almost as if being at my lowest point made me realize my passion.", Lauren states.

Justin Jean Pajamas opened its doors, officially, on October, 2016, two years after her loss.  Since then, Lauren has sold over 1,000 sets for both women and little girls.  The brand has been seen on local and national celebrities, including, but not limited to: RHONJ star, Teresa Giudice and her daughters, New York Celebrity Dermatoligist, Dr. Whitney Bowe, 6abc's Erin O'Hearn, and has been featured on the wonderful and inspiring "One Fit Widow"'s Social Media pages.

What sets this brand apart from others is not only the silkiness and comfort, but the message it conveys to all who purchase.  There is a heart on the sleeve of every pajama to encourage all to do just that. There are three ruffles on the back side.  Each ruffle stands for a core value that Lauren learned through her husband and grandmother's life lessons: Authenticity, Integrity, and Passion. The ruffles also symbolize innocence: her fond memories of living with her seamstress grandmother as a little girl. #ROCKTHERUFFLES is the brand's hash tag that was created to encompass it all.

Justin Jean also gives back. They currently work with OSAAB, the FHAL Foundation, and "Live the List".

"As much as Raja loved teaching, and as much of a regimented, by-the-books person she used to be, much of that has changed. “I don’t want to say I’m fearless, but it’s really opened my eyes to what’s important,” said Raja. “You have to be passionate about what you do.”"
